Why are your mattresses so affordable?

We are always on the lookout for exceptional mattress deals. Over the years, we have compiled a vast network of inventory sources such as furniture liquidations, overstocks, bankruptcy settlements, closeouts, and auctions. We buy in bulk at the best possible prices, sort out the best of the inventory, and then pass the savings directly on to you. We have had several people who have shopped with us in the past claim the savings they realized fell at or even below buying at wholesale. Combine that with our low overhead business model and efficient sales techniques and you will soon discover the secret to buying your mattress at pennies on the dollar. At the end of the day, you can potentially save thousands of dollars on a mattress by buying from Direct Mattress Outlet. A typical savings here would be a $2,000 mattress offered at $500, while a $4,000 retail mattress would go for say $950. That’s about 75% off retail!

What types of mattresses do you sell?

We primarily try to deal exclusively with the higher-end products on the market so your net savings are maximized. Remember, at this discount, for every $100 more you spend on your mattress, the mattress value goes up $400! This clearly means it makes the most sense for you to choose the best mattress you can afford, even if you need to save up a bit and wait a while. We carry most of the same designer brands you see in the stores. We also offer a wide selection of foam mattresses, including memory foam, latex and hybrid.

Because we are not dealers, we are unable to ‘order’ the exact mattress you may want from the manufacturer. We do try to carry the widest variety of brands, models, types and sizes in stock, so you will have the largest selection to choose from. Our goal is to always provide our clients with as many options as possible to fit their specific needs. Each mattress is guaranteed to be authentic and clearly labeled to ensure you know exactly what you are buying. We inspect all mattresses we sell and guarantee them to be defect-free at the time of sale.

Remember, the goal here is to remain open-minded. If you stay flexible, we will find a mattress similar enough in feel and specification that fits your needs.

In the marketplace, each mega-chain is allocated inventory with a unique set of mattress names. This is a calculated effort to deny consumers the opportunity to negotiate prices between the stores. Try not to concern yourself with the actual name on the mattress. Focus more on the specifications that make that particular mattress unique. We carry most of the same mattresses you’ll find at your local mattress centers in terms of specifications and quality, most likely with a different name. Again, a little flexibility goes a long way in terms of savings.

Most of our mattresses are new and factory-sealed in plastic. When viewing our mattresses in person, you may notice a bit of dust on a few. The fabric, the weight, and movement, can all contribute to a mattress picking up a few imperfections over time. An extremely valuable piece of advice is to simply ignore it. At the end of the day, it makes zero difference as to how your new mattress will feel or how long your new mattress will last. Often, imperfections are the very reason we are able to offer you the mattress at a discount. Our company considered dedicating the staff, space, and time needed to make our mattresses shine again, but in the end, we found our customers’ main priority was that we kept our prices at their absolute lowest. We trust that if you are intelligent enough to shop with us, you certainly are intelligent enough to know how to deal with a dusty mattress. In most cases, a vacuum is all it takes to completely remove any loose dust. Worst case, a half hour of your time and a $3.99 can of upholstery cleaner, or a mattress cover for that matter, will do the trick for you. Most of our foam mattresses have zip-off covers than can be easily washed. Buy a few extra sets of Egyptian cotton sheets with all the money you save!

Can I try a mattress out before I buy?

Of course you can. We would never recommend anyone buy a mattress without lying on it first. Feel free to take your time to lie on any mattresses we have in stock to ensure you feel comfortable with your purchase. We also suggest you go to you local sleep center and get a feel for what you like first, then call us for an appointment. This way, you can be armed with the knowledge needed to make a wise choice.

Is my mattress returnable in the event I change my mind?

Due to the slim margins on our transactions, all sales are final. Again, you are encouraged to take as much time as you need to be sure you are buying exactly what you want. At our discretion, we may extend a 24-hour comfort guarantee and allow you to trade your mattress back for a different one in our inventory. If approved, you may exchange it for a mattress of equal value. If you decide on a more expensive mattress, you simply pay the difference. There will be no credit if you decide to trade down. We ask that you keep the mattress in the plastic the first night to make sure you are happy with the mattress. You are also required to pay for all delivery costs incurred for the new delivery and the return of the exchanged mattress back to the store.

It is cost-effective to avoid a return. Take the time to select the right mattress the first time.

Do the mattresses carry the manufacturer’s warranty?

Only authorized retailers and dealers can offer manufacturer’s warranties. We are far from being a part of that network; therefore, we do not extend manufacturer’s warranties. Generally, in the unlikely event of a mattress failure, our discounted pricing makes the risk of not having warranty worth taking. We do stand behind our mattresses. If you notice a defect in your mattress after you get it home, give us a call so we can take care of the problem.

I see bad reviews online for the mattress I was interested in. Should I be concerned?

Remember, people generally only take the time to write a scathing review on a product when they are unhappy with their purchase. We realize that defective mattresses can slip through the cracks from the manufacturer; what you need to know is that compared the few bad reviews you read on-line, there are thousands of happy customers sleeping well on that very same mattress. “The mattress is way too soft…” or “This mattress just plain sucks” are the types of reviews that should be taken with a grain of salt. Everybody has their own personal opinions about what is right for them. Formulate your own opinion about what you like. Ignore what others have to say because they made a bad decision. We sell only authentic, higher-end name-brand mattresses. We find most issues with a purchase exist primarily in the area of comfort, not quality. Prepare yourself with the knowledge of what is right for you in terms of comfort. Trust that anything you find here will live up to your expectations in terms of quality.

Are your prices negotiable?

Our mattresses are already set at rock-bottom prices, so generally the answer is no. Our pricing structure is firm because our prices are set at or near 75% off retail pricing. We do, however, offer a discount for multiple purchases, as well as a “thank you” discount for repeat customers. We also frequently have clearance specials and package deals. These mattresses may have multiple scuff-marks or be further discounted for any variety of reasons. If you’re not the picky type, call us to see what we have in our clearance section. Can I get my mattress delivered?

Save money by showing up at your appointment in a truck. Providing your own transportation saves you delivery charges. At the same time, you’ll get to sleep on your dream mattress that very same night. We’ll be more than happy to get you loaded up and on your way.

Flat-rate curbside delivery is available to any (510) area code for $80. (415)(925) area code deliveries are $100. Areas outside the greater Bay Area will be priced as per individual quote. Installation, stairs and other difficulties will add to the delivery charge so please disclose any delivery challenges before booking to avoid any surprises.

How do I buy a mattress from you?

Simple! Call our warehouse directly and tell us what you are looking for (brand, model, size, type, budget, etc.). We can then tell you what we have in stock that fits your criteria. If you would like to visit our warehouse to make a purchase, call us to set up an appointment. During your visit, if you see something that interests you, be sure to leave a deposit to put the mattress on hold if you aren’t ready to buy. Inventory rotates quickly around here and the same mattress you loved on a prior visit may well be servicing another customer by the time you come back. If we currently do not have exactly what you are looking for, call back in a week or so and we should have new inventory.
